How to Prepare for Your First IT Interview

Your first interview is mostly a test of preparation, not talent. The candidates who do well have rehearsed three things: a two-minute introduction, a walkthrough of one project, and honest answers about what they do not yet know.

Keep your resume to a single page. List the tools you can use unsupervised, not every software you have ever opened. Hiring managers verify claims, and an inflated resume costs you the room.

Bring printed screenshots or a laptop with your project ready offline. Wi-Fi fails at the worst moment and a candidate who can still show their work looks unusually prepared.

Finally, prepare two questions to ask them. Asking about the team's daily workflow signals that you are thinking about the job itself, not just the salary.
